FairVote California (FVCA) launched in 2016 to seize the opportunity to advance ranked choice voting (RCV) and fairer, more inclusive elections that give voters greater choice, a stronger voice, and a representative democracy that works for all through strategic research, advocacy, organizing, and coalition building. Understanding that the electoral system we use directly impacts the representation that follows, it is imperative that we have fair elections. FVCA continues to be the leading organization advancing RCV in California because it solves many issues facing our democracy today. By giving voters the power to rank their candidates in order of preference, RCV elections promote fairness, foster civil elections, minimizes vote splitting and the spoiler effect, reduce costs, and supports greater voter participation.
